Raised in Agato (northern Ecuador), a small indigenous village, Attypak Santillán grew up surrounded by the Kichwa tradition. From a very young age, Attypak learned its language, music, and cosmovision in the traditional way: watching and listening to his elders. However, he was never out of the mainstream world. Mass media was the bridge to keep him connected with pop culture.
Having been homeschooled, he had changed to discover the world in his own way and ended up realizing that he takes inspiration from both worlds to create his own art. Thus, he keeps learning from the mainstream, but without forgetting his tradition. He was always looking for a way to put them together and create something new. He found music to be the medium.
Now, he is taking steps toward his idea through composing music inspired by its own tradition and pop music. He is doing this using a computer, DAWs, virtual instruments, and his voice in his own room as a recording studio to produce his music.
